Moko Ika Hikawaru

LI: To learnt the traditional history of the Tamaki River.

We drew a taniwha just out of what we know already know. The taniwha we drew was called Moko Ika Hikawaru. Moko Ika Hikawaru was from the Ngati Paoa tribe. This also meant that the people from Ngati Paoa are allowed to know the story the of Moko Ika Hikawaru. We learnt so much about Moko Ika Hikawaru like Moko had 8 tails. After we drew the ruff skectch of the Moko Ika Hikawaru we added detail.

I found this activity interesting because of how many tails Moko Ika Hikawaru.

Research about Scurvy

LI: To understand what a balanced diet looks like and why it is important for human health.

For our first Inquiry topic for Term 2 we did a study about what is scurvy, how can people get affected, and what can we do to avoid it. We wrote did you know facts to help us be able to learn about scurvy such as, Did you know that to get rid of scurvy you need to eat citric fruit like lemons and lime? Scurvy is caused by lack of Vitamin C for at least 3 months. I was mostly common for pirates/sailors.

I found this activity enjoying because of all the working together and collaborating.

Collage PBS Life

LI: To create a collage about the PBS Life.

I created a collage which showcases the life at Panmure Bridge School. I used some many old files and some of the work I did in LS2 to create a collage. In my PBS life I have competed and participated in interschools, field trips, camp and EOTC.  I have also appeared to be in several Manaiakalani Films festivals which I am most proud of is the Pokeblade on youtube.

I found this activity interesting becasue I made highlights about my PBS Life.

Riley – Who has Faced Difficlutes

LI: Who has a positive attitude despite difficulties they have faced.

Lebron James has had rollercoaster of journey, some high and some low. Lebron James started with no father – figure in his life. Most of his motavition came from Mum, who stood by Lebron’s side through out the journey. When he went to highschool he was waterboy for the high school basketball team. Then he said ” I want to try out for the basketball team”. He made it and he lead his team to 3 national championships. He took his talents to the NBA and with the top pick in the 2003 NBA draft the Cleveland Cavaliers selected Lebron James. He was on the bench for a few seasons but then he became a starter. In 2012 he won his first championship for the Miami Heat and would later on would win championships with many different teams and teamates . His son Bronny James is set to carry on his father’s legacy.

I found this activity interesting because I found out that the best basketball player grew up poor.

What is a River?

LI:To identify and describe the features of the Tamaki River.

This week we have been learning about what rivers are, their unique attributes and how to label them. We then created a DLO about the Tamaki river and its history. Did you know that the Tamaki River is 15 km long. Using our knowledge that we learnt, we showed the features of the Tamaki river using an aerial map. We then compared the Tamaki River with the Mississippi River. Our group chose to look at the Mississippi River because most of the students in LS2 were picking the Nile and the Amazon so our group decided that we were going to pick a river that was famous and no one else was using. Finally we made a comparison of the two rivers. Did you know that the Mississippi River is 4 times as large? The Mississippi River is 3,766km long which is 2,320 miles.

We found this activity interesting because we learnt about the many types of water sources such as, Lakes, reservoirs, Rivers, Dams, Ponds and many more.

Treaty of Waitangi

LI: To explore the world in 1840 and the art of the Treaty

This week we looked at the what the world was like in 1840. Did you know that Maori were forced out of there homes by the pakeha

After this we identified some of the key people and their role in the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. I found it interesting that Henry Williams and his son were translators and translated the treaty from English to Maori. We then used the information from both of these activities to help us read a painting of the day the treaty was signed. We used our knowledge to infer what the artist Marcus King might have wanted us to think was happening.

I found this really interesting because I could infer who the special people are on the picture that Marcus King Painted and have an understanding of who these people are.

However the image above was painted by Marcus King in 1938 it is his impression of the day the Treaty of Waitangi was signed.

Explaination Cars

I learnt how to write about the parts of our cars.

First I learnt the pros and cons about the modern day vehicles and the old vehicle.

Next I fixed the cons from my cars for example instead of gas I used air.

Then we wrote a explaination about what how the parts work on our car.

I enjoyed this activity because I learnt how to write about the parts of our cars. I did well at creating a car that can help the enviroment. I need to improve on making more cars that is better for the enviroment.

Cars

I drew a better car than some cars that are driving.

First we wrote some ideas to fix cons from some vehcle. I fixed cars by making a air powered car. This car would blow out the bad air.

Next we found out pros and cons about early vehcle and modern cars.

Lastly I drew 2 cars that could help the enviroment. 1 of my cars had a filter that it would filter out bad air. It had a flag to represent my culture. It had a boost so it could go fast. My second vehicle had breif case and my car would be in the breif case so it would be a portable car,

I enjoyed this activity because I drew a better car than some cars that are driving. I need to improve on making more cars that can help the enviroment. I did well at finding out some pros and cons.

Timeline of Cars

Cars are a type of transport that can travel on land. They are used to travel people from place to place. The first car was made in 1769. It was powered by steam. It did’nt work for very long. It could only work for 10 mineutes. The 2 car that was invented was powered by gas. This could last for 1 – 3 hours.

There are many cars that have been had a new feture to the car for example. 2022 was the first car to be on auto pilot or in 2010 was the first car that had winged doors. winged doors are doors that open like a wing.

There are many cars the are not nessesary for example.  The most smallest car or the first flying car.

Cars are vehicles that can go on land.

Pros Cons

Pros are advantages that diferent objects have. Cons are disadvantages that diferent objects have for example. if I was playing on a park the pro is that it’s fun to play on but the cons are somtimes people get hurt.

A galley is made by egyhption that are powered by people using paddles to row. A cruise ship is a modern ship powered by gasoline that uselly have pools, waterparks and warterslides. A pro for the galley is that it can hold 200 to 350 tons but the con is that its really slow becuase the people get tired fast. A pro about the cruise ship is that is has so much fun things to do but the cons are that they cost too much money.

Ms White has challenged us. If we had 10,000 dollars would we rather spend 8000 dollars on a criuse ship to go from USA to Mexico and have 2000 left to spend in Mexico or would we rather spend 500 dollars on a galley to go from USA to Mexico and spend 9500 dollars in Mexico. I would rather pick the galley because I get to spend more money in Mexico than spend 2o00 dollars in Mexico.
