LS2 Showcase

Today we showed principles around our school. First we showed our learning in LS2, I showed my Gender Bias. I talked about Gender Bias in comics and how SpiderMan has changed more that SpiderWomen. Then I talked about Gender Representation in Text and how men were seen as heroes because they fought at war while the women were seen as housewives because they kept the house in order. Lastly I talked about my cultrual superhero. I also talked about what his powers were and what his purpose was.

I enjoyed doing this because I liked showing principles our school.

Information Report – The Bengal Swamp Tiger

LI: To write an information Report that tells the reader about the Bengal Swamp Tiger.

In this activity we wrote a information report Swamp Tigers. We first wrote down notes. We used our smart searching skills to find notes to help us get an idea of what we need. We wrote our own information report and used it in our own words. An information Report tells the reader about a chosen topic by providing the reader with facts.

The Swamp Tiger, Unique, Terrifying, Incredible and an overall jaw dropping creature. Known as Panthera Tigris Tigris, These wonderful creatures are on the brink of extinction and are critically endangered. Not many people know that they inhabit the mangrove forest which runs between the Bangladesh and Indian border.

The Swamp Tiger has a large, muscular and powerful build. These creatures use their orange and black fur to help them camouflage in their habitat. The Swamp tiger uses its rapid feet to hunt down their prey. Did you know that these beasts weigh up to 180 kgs?

These beasts are carnivores which only eat meat. Their diet consists of Deers, Boars, Buffalos, Wild Cats, Crabs, Fish and On some occasions Humans. Are you aware that 100 fishermen die each year due to these predators hunting the fishermans. An interesting fact that I found is that the Bengal Swamp tigers would go after anything that is alive or moving.

The Swamp Tiger lives in a mangrove forest. These Mangrove Forest feel These feisty animals like to live in humid and wet climates and even like water which is unusual. The Swamp Tigers have adapted to their habitat and have included fish in their diet.

These animals enjoy being solitary which means being alone. They mark out their territory and use this area as their home. Not many people know that these predators are nocturnal hunters which means they only hunt at night.

The Swamp Tiger are wonderful, fascinating and an incredible creature. If we keep on expanding our cities and building into the Swamp tigers habitat. These tigers will start to get very limited. Do you agree?

Pepeha

LI: To write and tell the story of our background.

Our task today was to write our pepeha. My pepeha tells what iwi I come from, when my ancestors came to New Zealand, Who are my grandparents and where I grew up. It also says that I acknowledge the indigenous people of this area and I acknowledge the important landmarks of this area.

I really enjoyed finding out the history of my whanau.
