Kingi Tuheitia

LI: To learn and respect the passing of Kingi Tuheitia

In this activity we were challenged to create a DLO and bring unity to respect Kingi Tuheitia. Unity is bringing 2 different groups of people. This helps with learning about one and other, connecting with each other and learning from everybody. There are many examples of unity but the best one is when Kingi Tuheitia brought the Maori tagata and the Cook Islands. Unity also helps with both sides of the groups as it helps  with learning about one another. Kingi Tuheitia passed on the leadership of the Maori to her daughter Kuini Nga Wai Hono i te po. I think that Kuini Nga Wai Hono i te po will bring more creative ideas to the role of the Maori Queen. I think this because Kuini Wai Nga Hono i te po has a wide range of ideas and is more creative. I believe that she will hold the connection between the Maori Tangata and the Cook Islands.

I enjoyed this activity because I learnt and respected the passing of Kingi Tuheitia.

Te Reo

I learnt Te Reo Maori.

First we had to talk in Maori for 8 minutes. 8 mintes is 480 secounds. We couldn’t speak english for 8 minutes. If we did that will be 1 slip. A slip is when someone speaks english. We had 3 slips.

Next we learnt how to say new words in Maori. We also had to tell the time.

I enjoyed this task because I learnt how to talk in Maori for 8 minutes. I need to improve on telling the time. I did well on saying the new words.
