Inchcape Rock

LI: To find and summarise the story behind the.

Our challenge was to unpack the story behind the 17 verses of the poem Inchcape Rock by Robert Southy. The part I found interesting was the storyline beuase It had lots of effective words. This made me feel like I was the main charecter and I felt everything.

I found this activity interesting because I found the story of the inchcape rock and how The Sir Raplh The rover passed away.

Cultural Superheroes

LI: To describe your superhero

Our challenge was to design a DLO of the story they are in using key vocabulary from all our T- shaped units to describe them and their attributes. We built on this challenge by creating a slide that explained who our superhero was, their backstory, what their strengths and weaknesses were and who their nemesis was. My superhero is Niu Iki, my chareters backstory is  It is 2023 on the Niuean island, he was gifted to the village by the gods and was sworn to protect the village from the fearless mold monster (Ioane). He always got defeated but swore to come back better and stronger next time.

I found this activity exciting because I created my own charecter.

Personification – Stairs

LI: to understand the 5 senses can be used to strengthen a description.

Our challenge was to co construct a text using the olfactory (Smell), auditory (Sound), gustatorial (Taste), visual (See) and kinethetic (Movement) senses to describe the story behind the Stairs in this image. This time we were able to speak and sat facing our partners. I think that this time was a lot easier because we got to communicate with eachother

Once we had completed this part of the challenge we joined together with another group to share our writing and make sure what we had written made sense and had met the language feature challenge.

I found this activity enjoable because this time we could write the same ideas.

These Shoes Have a Story to Tell

LI: To use the 5 senses and personification to help us paint a picture with words

LI: To understand that personification is to give an inanimate object human qualities

Our challenge was to co construct a text using personification and the senses to describe the story behind the shoes in this image. We sat back to back and weren’t able to talk. I thought that was the hardest part. Half way through Mrs Anderson challenged us to include a rhetorical question and a simile or metaphor which made our writing even better.

Once we had completed this part of the challenge we joined together with another group to share our writing and make sure what we had written made sense.

After that part of the challenge was finished we used the punctuation points game to tally how points we got. We marked eachother’s punctuation against the points table. We then had a chance to check our own work against the points table. That was fun because every point our partners missed menat we could take a point off theirs.

I found this activity exciting because my partner kept on changing the course of the story.

Tutor Someone Who needs Extra Help – Silver Care Award

LI: To tutor someone who needs extra help

For a silver care award badge I tutored someone who needed extra help. I helped him with maths, writing and reading. Now he can understand the morals of some stories. He can also write explanations to an okay level which tells me he is going to succeed in all subjects. I believe that this person will strive to achieve all subjects.

I enjoyed this activity because I tutored someone who needs extra help.

Physical Health Nurse – Silver Care Award

LI: To reasearched about our physical health nurse.

For a silver care award badge I researched about our Physical Health nurse. The Physical Health Nurse being in our school plays a big part in eveyones health. The Physical Health Nurse plays a huge part of our school and take care of kids for free. The Physical Health Nurse treats skin infection, scabs, ear infections and many more. Overall I think that the Physical Health is a great part of our school because it helps us when we need medical treatment.

I enjoyed this activity because I reasearched about our physical health nurse.

PB4L Contract

LI: Students will learn how to look after equipment and property

During this activity, we discussed as a group on why should we look after equipment and how should we look after equipment. We looked at the different causes and effect to when we damaged property or lent something to someone and they broke it. How would something you gave to a friend and they broke it? Do you think they will pay for it? We also discussed on the special objects we lost that meant to us but not to others as they could sell it and think it’s just a wedding ring, or a necklace. We then created a fake contract that will allow us to take upon our ability to take care of our belongings.

Current Events – National

LI: To create events in New Zealand,

We created a map that shows the events that have happened in New Zealand. We used words such as Impact, Timelessness. Magnitude, Emotion and many more We used 5 events, Our events were Auckland Airport, Mosque, Te Wanga, New Plymouth, Christ. These were some of the most important events that have happened in New Zealand from the 100 years.

Interschool Netball

LI: To Represent our school in a competition.

Every tuesday I play in a netball interschool competition. Our netball team is called the PBS Panthers, We have won 4 games out of 6 and will hopefully win more. The position that I play is wing attack (WA). This position requires to get the ball down the court to your shooters as quick as possibly. This   I need to defend the Wing Defence (WD) from getting the ball to there shooters. I think in my team I mostly get a lot of interceptions and get the ball back from the opposition.

I found it exciting that I get to form bonds with my teammates and play the game of netball.

Polynesian Panthers/Hero Parade

LI: To learn the history behind a place in New Zealand

Our challenge in this activity was to reasrch and find what happened in a place in New Zealand. We picked out a card and read a pepeha that was behind the card and gave us hints to where this place was in NZ. The card we picked was revolution and it was located on ponsonby road. In our card there were 2 stories Polynesian Panthers and Hero Parade. Here of some interesting facts we found from the polynesian Panthers. Melani Anae was 17 years old when she thought about creating the Polynesian Panthers Party. She went to her friends house to discuss about this serious act. She started asking people in her school if they wanted to join the polynesian panthers protest on ponsonby road. The group was made up of 16 and 17 yrs. If I got the chance to be invited to the polynesian Panthers I would accept because I would want to stick for my culture.

The interesting fact we found from the Hero Parade wasIn 1981 the prime minister made a new law declaring that it is illegal to be gay / have relations with someone as the same gender. If caught buying a house as a gay couple they would be sentenced to 14 years in prison. Nowadays in New Zealand its legal to  in a relationship. I would be afraid to be arrested for 14 years because I wouldn’t see my family for a very long time

This activity was exciting because I learnt the story of the Polynesian Panthers and The Hero Parade.
