Te Reo Maori Memes l Summer Learning Journey

Our challenge was to create a meme that was in Te Reo Maori. Our meme was POV: Ka whakapae koe i te peeke ki tetahi atu which means in english POV: You blame the fart on someone else. I thought this meme was relatable as everyone blames farts on everyone else.

I thought this activity was enjoyable because I made memes in maori.

  1. Kia ora Riley,

Miss Pryde here. It is awesome to see you getting involved with the Summer Learning Journey and posting regularly to your blog. Keep it up.

Your meme was hilarious. Did you share it with your friends? I feel like this is something they would very much enjoy. It is very relatable, especially in a classroom. Did you use google translate to translate your meme to Māori? Did you make any other memes?

Densyn also posted a meme. What do you think of his? Do you relate to his too? https://pbsdensynt.edublogs.org/2023/12/13/te-reo-maori-meme-summer-learning-journey/#comments

Keep up the hard mahi Riley.

    1. Kia Ora Miss Pryde, thank you for commenting on my post. I did share it at first but I got into a little bit of trouble so I changed my meme to make it a little bit different. I did use google traslate becuase I am not fluent in Maori. Are you fluent in Maori? I did look at Densyn’s and I thought it was very creative and funny at the same time.

      Regards,
      Riley

      1. Kia ora Riley,

Yes, that’s the thing about memes. There is a fine line between funny and being mean isn’t there. I’m glad you changed your meme to something more suitable. It’s also funny and relatable so you’ve done a good job. Very clever.

Google translate is a good way to learn words and basic sentence structures. I am not fluent in Maori but I am working very hard to improve my reo. Lots more people are speaking te reo these days. It is the language of the future here in Aotearoa. I am hoping they put Maori on Duolingo one day.

If you could speak any language, what language would you want to be able to speak?

        Miss Pryde
