He collected his brothers. To rebel Te Ra. They gathered strong flax. Making strong hooks and strong ropes. To delay the sun. They forged a clay shield. The sun rises with all its heat. Maui’s crew waiting. Rise maui shouted. They arose, to slow the sun. The sun was jaded.

Stastical Investigation

LI: To use Stastical Investagation to find data and information.

In this activity we found how many year 7 – 8 students at Panmure Bridge School have pets and What kind of pets that the have. A Statistical Investigation is a cycle of: Posing a question, for example Do you have a pet? Not a question like: Do you like? Or What’s your favourite? Then Plan investigation. After plan investigation it is Gather Data, (asking a people the question and tally mark it as 1.) For example Do you have a pet? The person would respond as yes and that would be 1 tally mark for yes. Next is Analyse the data, (Checking the data and make a bar graph or a pie chart to make a graph like this.)

Lastly Forming a Conclusion, this means to look at your data to confirm your final point We found that 11 students do not have and pets 9 students have pets. 6 students have cats, 8 students have dogs and 5 students have fish.

Maungarei Poem

LI: To write a poem about Mt Wellington/Maungarei

In this activity we wrote a poem about Mt Wellington/Maungarei. We first went up to Maungarei to find what we heard, what we saw, what we felt and what we wondered. I heard the blair of the honking traffic down below my feet, would this today be the same as the crackling shells under my enemy’s feet? I saw our whenua and land that we live on, if we turn back the clocks we would all the trees that stand tall and surround us today be in our sight? I felt the dynamic atmosphere once I reached the top, as I felt surrounded by the ancestors and taonga of this area and I wondered if the rough winds would carry me away into the past, would it bring our ancestors to the present day and would we get lost in the past?

I enjoyed this activity because I wrote a poem about Maugnarei.

Leaders We Admire

LI: To find out about the leaders we admire.

Our task was to find a leader we admire. These leaders could be a prime minister, a sport captain and many more. The leader that I admire is Jonah Lomu. I admire Jonah Lomu because he didn’t have a great background because Jonah Lomu came to New Zealand as a kid and got into Wesley College. He grew up and trialed for the All Blacks. He got into the All Blacks and he made a name for himself. I think Jonah Lomu is the best rugby player to ever touch a rugby ball.
