Persuasive Speech

Persuasive Speech is convicing someone to beleive the same as you.

The structure of a Persuasive Speech is oreo. Oreo stands for Opinion, Reason, explaination and opinion.

Opinion is the start of a persuasive speech. The opinion tells the problem.

The reasons gives the listener there statement.

Exaplaination backs up the statement to make the statement make more sense.

The opinion gives the listener the thing they are trying to say.

 

SSR Selfie – BFG

I read 2 chapters of BFG by Roald Dahl.

I read when cEvery night when everyone is asleep big fat giants come and look for humans to eat. There is only one giant that can stop them. He is called the BFG he is the nicest and kindest giant.

I enjoyed this activity because I read Roald Dahl. I need to improve on reading faster. I did well on reading.

Fractions

I learnt to add fractions.

First I answered some questions to get a idea of how to add frations.

Next I learnt how to add a fraction. To add a fraction I have to write a fraction plus another fractions equals for example if I have ⅗ + ⅗ = 6/5 because I added the numerator together and left the denominator.

Then I answered even more questions for example 126/200 + 100/200.

I enjoyed this activity because I learnt to add fractions. I need to improve on answering faster. I did well on getting the answer correct.

Evaluating

I learnt to evaluate texts.

First we read an article about a swimming pool. The article was about lots of people in a pool. We evaluated the article by discussion. We discussed many opinions. We discussed the dangerous idea and then we switched the ideas around to make the dangerous idea a safe idea.

Next we thought if it was crowded, It had disease, It was dangerous and it would cause fights. I chose It was dangerous. I summarised the article using the APE structure.

I enjoyed this activity because I learnt to evaluate texts. I did well on evaluating. I need to improve reading the text more.

 

Witi Ihimaera

I learnt about Witi Ihimaera.

First we learnt about who he was and where he was born. I researched what stories he made and what theme his book was about. A fact is that he was the first Maori person to publish a book. He wrote short books and he also wrote novels.

Next we research what books he wrote, why is it important to NZ history that Witi Ihimaera told Maori stories. The answer is that he was the first ever Maori to publish a book. He wrote Whale Rider.

I enjoyed this task because I learnt new things about Maori people. I need to improve on finding facts about him. I did well on researching him.

Eating Times

There are 2 types of eating. Formal and Casual eating. There a different places when your eating formally. For example: Formal eating is when your at Grandma’s birthday and you need your manners. Casual eating is when your at your mate’s birthday party or McDonalds.

Formal eating is eating when your mouth closed, sitting down, and using your cutlery.

Casual eating is eatting as much as you can, enjoying your food and having stains on your shirt.

There are different ways to eat at certain places.

Persuasive Planner

The structure of a persuasive speech is OREO.

O is for Opinion which is what you think about somthing at the start of the planner. For example: The world is flat.

R and E is for Reasons and Explanations which is backing up your statement of what your think. For example: The world is flat because the ground is flat.

O is also for Opinion which is what you think about something at the end of the planner. For example: The world is flat

OREO is the structure of a persuasive speech.

Netball

I learnt some skills for netball.

First we learnt how to pass. To pass the ball has to be near my chest to pass. Then force the ball out of my hands to the player that I am passing to.

Next we played a 2×2 netball game. In this game there are 2 attackers and 2 defenders. The attackers are trying to make space to pass to their teammate. The defenders are trying to stop the attackers by trying to take the ball from the attackers.

Then we played rob the nest. In rob the nest there are two teams and the two teams are trying to get the balls inside hoops without running. The most balls in the hoops wins.

Lastly we played Jedi Dodgeball. In jedi dodgeball there are two teams and one jedi in the two teams. The jedi is trying to find people that are out to bring them back. The other people are trying to protect the jedi because if the jedi is out the whole team is out.

I enjoyed this activity because I learnt some skills for netball. I did well on passing. I need to improve on defending in netball.

Google Maps

I learnt how to make a google map.

First we read books to summrasie. I summrasied Southern Lights, the Three Little Pigs, The Grateful Crane, and The Many Legands of Diwali. We chose books from these groups Legends, fairy tale, fables, and myths.

Next we summrasied the books. I summrasied the Southern Lights. The Southern Lights is about Tane – Rereti wanted to go to the southern because he wondered why were green, blue, crismon lights so he gathered food and brought his men and traveled to the south. While traveling he was eating fish and was choking on fish. he died and they carryed Tane – Rereti back to home town. The waka began to burn and Tane – Rereti spirit was in the sky. The group of stars formed into a scorpion’s tail.

I enjoyed this task because I learnt new books. I did well at summrising. I need to improve on reading faster.

 

Pencil Code

I learnt pencil code.

First we learnt the coordinates. For example we used clockwise and anti clockwise. anti clockwise is to left and clockwise is to the right. We played a game with a buddy we had to use coordinates.

Next we did a task about pencil code. Pencil code is a type of coding using fd, rt, lt, and bk. That is forward, back, right turn, and left turn. We had types of degrees, like 90, 60, 144, 135, and 30 degrees.

I enjoyed this task because I learnt new things about degrees. I need to improve on checking on my degrees. I did well on checking my forward, back, right turn, and left turn.
